Stephen Hazell is founder of Ecovision and a retired environmental lawyer. His experience is unique in that he has held senior management positions in four national environmental organizations, a federal government agency, and a leading Ottawa-based consulting firm. Stephen served as policy director and general counsel at Nature Canada until December 2019, and continued to serve as counsel to Nature Canada until 2022. Stephen has also taught environmental law at the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa.

Recently, Stephen has provided legislative, regulatory and policy advice on biodiversity and impact assessment to clients such as Nature Canada, Greenpeace Canada and Ecojustice.

Stephen is a board director of The Energy Mix and a member of Citizen Climate Counsel (C3)
